DAF 2011

Here are some pic from this year's Digable Arts Festival, that took place at the Monroe Center of the Arts in Hoboken, NJ. I had a good time and met some insightful artists.

My set-up. I was in a room with a fashion installation brought in by Uta Brauser. The dress to the right is sewn from latex gloves.

republic minis & digable

I have minis of "the republic"! They are decoupage prints on wood, handmade and hangable. I will have them available for sale at the Digable Arts Festival this weekend in Hoboken, NJ. It's a 2-day fest of music and art, go to the Digable site: DigableArts.com for directions and detailed info of the event. I participated last year and had an awesome time.

Check out "the republic" prints!

Here is the address of the event site and dates:

Saturday October 15th & Sunday October 16th
12pm - 7pm both days

Monroe Center for the Arts
720 Monroe Street
Hoboken, NJ 07030

The event will take up the entire 3rd floor of the Center! Below is a floor map, I will be set up in the "Window Room" marked with the red 'X'. When you get off the elevator, turn right and walk through to the end and I'll see you there!

contrast art show 5 pics

Here are some of the photos from the Contrast Art Show that took place a week ago at 320 Studios in Manhattan. I sold prints from my set-up as well as from the auction. Thank you and congrats to the new owners. For the first time there was a fashion show presented by Geary Marcello who will be showing his Foxxy Face Clubwear at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in NYC this upcoming September.

I presented my newest painting "the republic". It is oil, colored pencils, graphite, and acrylic on wood, measuring 31in x 41in. To the left of the painting I had my prints for sale.

the republic!

It is done! Well, almost. Please excuse the really crappy photo quality (the painting looks a lot better in person with richer colors). I just have to put in some tiny details, such as nail color, etc. Then I can varnish it, which will bring out all the colors that have dried matte. Lastly I will have to scan it, although I am seriously dreading this as the painting is 31in x 41in and the scanner bed is 8.5in x 11in. Wish me patience!

the republic - continued

A work in progress....

31inx 41in

A while back I posted some photos of my progress on this painting (click here to see its earlier stages). Then I went oversees, and now that I am back I am trying to finish it ( I will definitely finish it). The pencil work is almost done and then I can get to painting! I can't wait. That's when the whole image will come together in terms of composition, color, and atmosphere. Yay!
Also, I am still exhibiting at one of the "Artists in the Kitchen" venues called FUSION, a bar and lounge. Here is the exact info:

Fusion
818 Tenth Ave
New York, NY 10019

So even though the festival has come and gone, you can still view some of my original paintings and miniature prints.

the republic (early stages)

I took some time off from my new painting "the republic" to make more decoupage prints on hand-cut wood for my All Out Print Show. The prints are doing really good and I have to keep making more (and that's definitely good).

So here are some more progress shots of the painting, which right now is in its drawing phase (and hopefully that's not too confusing).

bear head, kinda cute, no?

I like how her lips and sunglasses are still not colored in...

And here are two more shots from the opening of the All Out Print Show, which is up until April 30th, at the:

too soon to tell

I've started working on a new painting prior to finishing my last. Starting a brand new (big) project sometimes seems slightly overwhelming at first (before you get into the speedy flow of things), so this time around I just went for it. Time management is a beautiful thing!

So here are the very early stages of what's to come (colored pencil and graphite).

I like capturing the beginnings of paintings; they're sort of silly.
