venice

I started this painting a while back, and then left it, without finishing (which never ever happens).
So I recently worked on it some more, and I am happy with the result.

chronicle: tales of the sea

I am happy to be participating in the invitational group show "Chronicle: Tales of the Sea" at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco!

Modern Eden Gallery
403 Francisco Street

opening reception:
Saturday September 14, 2013 // 6-10pm

Here is the piece I made for the show. I went back to the surfboard shape, it's called "warship".

the birth of venus

I finished! I have yet to scan this painting. This (instagram) picture really doesn't do the colors justice. I used my new neon oil paint on her cloth, and for the reflections in the water. It really glows in person.
I like the drips in this one. This is the sort of texturing I used to do on my paintings, I'm thinking of utilizing that more in the paintings to come.

"The birth of Venus"
oil and acrylic on wood
32in x 38in

And here is a pic of me (middle) and my girlfriends from the "rain room" installation at MOMA.

"the siren" oil and pencils on wood, 10in x 10in

"MYTH"
A group art show:
July 14 - August 5, 2012

opening reception:
Saturday, July 14 | 6-10pm

Complimentary drinks will be served and there will be a live DJ set during the reception. Exhibiting artists will be in attendance.

Via Hi-Fructose: “Though scientific discoveries and technology shape our perception and beliefs, Western society’s classical foundations have survived well into the Internet era. Archetypes from Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian mythology influence the kinds of stories we tell about ourselves and each other — both in interpersonal interactions and in the media. On July 14, Modern Eden in San Francisco will open “Myth,” an international group show at allows a diverse line-up of artists to interpret the myths of their choice. From Persephone to King Midas, both obscure and familiar mythological characters will be stylized according to each artist’s imagination.” Written by Nastia Voynovskaya
