A compound of art, design, performance, and architectural technology, UnKNOWN will set the stage for a cultural exchange of new themes and ideas revolving around New York City's creative community. Alluding to the participants‟ creative origins, the title of the show is based on the idea that it doesn't matter who you are, rather what you bring to the table. Whether an artist is known or „unknown‟ in the New York City art community, their talent should speak for itself. Occupying two levels and 6,000 feet2, UnKNOWN will feature new works by over 30 artists, ranging from painting and photography to live art and cutting-edge design.
All works of art will be for sale and a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the organization TEAM in Africa. TEAM is an international social justice program run by the students at TEAM Academy in Newark, New Jersey. Students learn about critical issues regarding international education and world poverty through partnerships with schools in Kenya and Rwanda. After establishing connections with these indigenous communities, TEAM organizes efforts to raise funds and awareness of the cause. In 2007, after watching a video about the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa, a group of eighth grade students asked their teacher the simple question, “Why can‟t we do the same thing?” Since then, over 100 students from TEAM‟s middle and high schools, as well as their affiliated chapter at Indiana University, have worked towards enriching the lives of their partners abroad through a number of self-initiated projects. TEAM Academy is a non-profit organization that thrives fully on the support from volunteers. Any contributions they receive go directly to benefit the children.

UnKNOWN, is sponsored and funded by RAWW NYC, a joint party project hosted by Bass Fueled Mischief and Turban Productions. Taking over the second half of the evening, RAWW NYC will feature an eclectic line-up of dubstep and electronic DJs in conjunction with stunning visuals by Josh Sophrin. From awe-inspiring art to thought-provoking design this event will reinvent the fusion between visual art and music.
